Play will be five-man teams with the best four scores counting towards the daily total.
We will play 36 holes on Monday, October 28th, and 18 holes on Tuesday, October 29th.
Tee times will be published on Scoreboard or another avenue TBD.
It is unlikely that you will be able to rely on any cell coverage (except possibly AT&T) on property. However, Wifi is freely available in the area around the clubhouse.
We will have a coach group text with rules officials. You can try to contact Philip Rowe/Eric Frazzetta via Facetime Audio or Whatsapp call because if we are in the clubhouse we will get those calls and messages via Wifi). The Proshop and tournament staff will have radios connected to operations and rules.
USGA Rules of Golf will govern play and be administered by The Northern California Golf Association (NCGA) who will have extensive on-course coverage with 10 rules officials present.
The NCAA Hard Card and Tournament Local Rules will also be provided in your coaches’ packet and will be printed on the reverse of the daily hole location sheets.
-
Will be supervised by NCGA Rules with The Preserve Professional and Superintendent. We will publish and print hole locations ready for you to study over breakfast on tournament days. Any hole location paint dot markings visible during the practice rounds may or may not be the actual tournament hole locations.
We will have one freshly cut hole per tournament day (therefore expect only one hole location for 36 holes on Monday 10/30/23). The predicted stimpmeter reading for greenspeed will be 12.
-
Pre-round warmup practice area space is limited, we will assign each team to two hitting spots on the range so please work a rotation within your team. There may be some additional WEDGE ONLY range spots available to the left side of the range hitting toward the hill on the right side of the range.
For short game and bunkers, coaches may shuttle players to the far side of the range in their COACHES CART ONLY. We will rope off a section of that far-end-of-range short game area beyond which that area can be used for bunker, chipping and pitching shot practice. For safety reasons when that short game area is in use, drivers must be aimed into the trees to the far right side of the range.
The putting green is located beside just behind the range hitting area next to the clubhouse. Short chip/pitch shots are permitted. Another smaller putting surface is located adjacent to the 1st tee.

Designated programs will participate in collegiate am. Where student athletes will join up with invited tournament guests in a fun, best-ball, Collegiate-Amateur event run in conjunction with our practice round.
Collegiate Amateur/sponsor guests will understand that primary focus is course reconnaissance and extra shots are permitted within reason. Your remaining 3 team players (4 if individual) will follow in a group behind where coaches can bounce between groups.
Play will be in carts for the round, however, one of your players may need to rotate in a walk/ride situation.
We are grateful to The Preserve Board & Members for their generosity in hosting, as well as our Cal Poly supporters who have contributed to our provision of meals, tee prizes and other tournament expenses.
-
Upon check-in on Sunday morning, coaches will be given tournament gifts to distribute to their teams and coaches.
This year's tee gift is a Malbon polo.
We will have tournament posters to be signed as a gift to The Preserve Golf Club for hosting this event.
On behalf of The Preserve Golf Club, Cal Poly Athletics and Golf Programs, we hope all coaches and student-athletes will enjoy a wonderful golf tournament experience. The event would not have been possible without our supporters and sponsors.
We will not plan on a formal coaches’ meeting but we look forward to spending time with each of you either on the course or at one of the fabulous meals we have on the schedule.
We would like to make a special thank you to Tim Gonzalez along with the entire membership and staff at The Preserve for making this collegiate tournament a possibility.
Here’s to a great tournament One and All!
