CARMEL BY THE SEA, Calif. -- Cal overtook UCLA over the final holes and Kuangyu Chen of Cal took medalist honors in the 2023 Cal Poly Invitational at The Preserve on Tuesday.

Cal trailed UCLA by five strokes entering the final round and carded a four-person twelve under-par 276 total on the 7,048-yard, par-72 course located in the hills several miles southeast of Carmel. UCLA tied Northwestern for runner up, finishing at 848 sixteen under-par for the event.

The Individual Championship title was captured by Kuangyu Chen of Cal. Carding a 65 final round to sit at a 206 total of 10-under-par to overtake Omar Morales of UCLA by one shot.
